Cathédrale Notre-Dame

Roof, Bell Tower, Stained Glass, Windows and Much More

We efficiently and skillfully strengthened and restored the Notre-Dame Basilica Cathedral in Ottawa. This mandate consisted of restoring its aesthetic appeal without modifying the building's character.

We strengthened, restored or upgraded these elements:

  • Roof.
  • Bell tower.
  • Stained glass windows.
  • Exterior windows.
  • Masonry.
  • 150 plaster statues.
  • Basement (including the kitchen and parish hall).
  • Electrical and heating systems.
  • Elements surrounding and supporting the organ.
  • Wooden pews and decorations (including 50 carved reliefs).
  • The original plaster colour on the ceiling and columns (including the gilding and 14,000 gold leaf stars on the ceiling).

In addition, we were asked to move seven crypts and remove the organ temporarily to strengthen the elements supporting it.

To complete this major restoration project, we called on outside contractors who specialize in the restoration of historic buildings and fine art. The result is a magnificent cathedral that will withstand the test of time.
