With over 200 projects to our name, we have decades of experience in educational building construction ranging from modular classrooms, auditoriums, fitness centers, gymnasiums, laboratories, residences, schools, colleges, universities, dormitories, and learning centers.

We are passionate about building for the future—crafting spaces that directly support student success and contribute to the development of the next generation of leaders.

Education: The Driving Force of Progress

By providing individuals with the tools to succeed, education accelerates innovation and drives economic growth. An educated population and workforce are more efficient, creative, and adaptable, driving industries forward and offering innovative solutions that shape the future.

From primary schools to universities, education nurtures and prepares the next generation, impacting every sector and paving the way for future success.

The Challenge of Versatile Spaces

Building educational facilities involves many components and diverse spaces, each with its own specific needs.

From classrooms that foster focus and creativity to residences that feel like home, handling it all can be a challenge. Passive house design, multipurpose areas, and unique building requirements—our team can do it all, striking the perfect balance between functionality and comfort.

At Pomerleau, we strive to create environments where students not only succeed academically but also thrive, all while meeting the highest industry standards.

A Long History of Innovation in Educational Buildings

Throughout the years we've had the opportunity to work on many exciting educational building construction projects.

From the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) in Montreal to the Chemical Engineering and A.E. Cameron buildings at Dalhousie University in Halifax, and the new elementary school in Cloverley, North Vancouver, BC—we’ve been able to leave our mark across Canada.

We’ve also worked on innovative builds such as the Harmony Commons, currently the largest certified Passive House project in Canada, and the Academic Tower for the University of Toronto, one of the most sustainable universities in the world. Once complete, the tower is expected to be the tallest academic timber structure in Canada and one of the tallest mass timber and steel hybrid buildings in North America.

Many of our builds have even received awards, like the Sheridan College Hazel McCallion Campus Phase 2A (HMC2A) Student and Athletic Centre, a testament to remarkable architecture that we are proud to have been part of.

We’re proud of all the builds we’ve been a part of, each one helping us hone our skills and gain invaluable experience—preparing us for the next challenge.

The Path to Net Zero

Pomerleau is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 through sustainable building initiatives, and we take that responsibility to heart.

All projects handled by our construction company are designed and built with energy efficiency and sustainability in mind. We always aim to reduce construction job site emissions and waste and strive to reuse pre-existing materials when renovating buildings to minimize environmental impact.

Our expertise also extends to LEED building requirements, passive design protocols, and special eco-friendly materials like mass timber. Learn more about our sustainable and collaborative projects in education.

Carrying Our Legacy Forward

At Pomerleau, we don’t just build schools; we create inspiring learning environments that support academic success and honor the past while embracing the future.

Fueled by our optimism for the future, we are honored to craft the spaces where future builders, engineers, and architects will be trained—young professionals who will one day carry the torch.
