Our mandate was to build the Diamond Theatre located at Place d'Youville, in the heart of Old Quebec City.
This 625-seat cultural and creative venue hosts productions by Ex Machina (Robert Lepage), circus shows, opera performances and the artistic endeavours of many partners.
The architectural design of the theatre stands out for the addition of a genuine "diamond" — a contemporary glass structure that we integrated into the historic façade designed by architect Joseph-Ferdinand Peachy in 1879.
We faced many challenges during the project, including a tight budget, a busy construction site, limited space and soil decontamination.
Despite these obstacles, we met the client’s budget, deadlines and requirements.
We successfully completed the project, including the construction of a complex concrete structure, despite the busy and confining location of the site.
We preserved the facade of the former building, protecting its heritage value.
We uncovered asbestos and contaminated soil during the project, forcing us to proceed with asbestos removal and decontamination.
We completed the project successfully, meeting the client’s tight budget every step of the way.
