Double the Services and Space

The goal of the renovation and expansion project awarded to our team was to improve the services and double the size of the terminal at the Jean Lesage International Airport in Quebec City.

With the number of passengers continuing to increase every year, this work was necessary. In 2014 alone, more than 1.5 million passengers passed through the Jean Lesage International Airport.

This renovation and expansion project mainly involved these components:

  • Relocating the Canada Border Services checkpoint, baggage processing room and baggage claim area
  • Adding baggage carousels
  • Expanding food court and baggage areas
  • Adding three new boarding gateways and relocating four existing gateways
  • Optimizing the loading and unloading area
  • Improving the communication systems
  • Adding self-service kiosks and automated equipment
  • Building a new thermal power plant
  • Recycling the existing international terminal for alternative use (8,826 m2)
  • Redeveloping the purpose of the domestic flight zone (18,116 m2 space).

Our Challenge

Complex Coordination

Since airport operations could not be disrupted during the project, we had to meticulously coordinate every aspect of our work.
