Construction of Stage VII

Our team was awarded the mandate to build Stage VII of the James wastewater treatment plant in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

The work included the following elements:

  • A new primary effluent pump station
  • A secondary clarifier
  • Biological sludge pumping station
  • Effluent pumping station
  • A waste solids thickener

Our upgrades have increased the plant's treatment capacity by 61% and improved the quality of the treated effluent discharged to the Fraser River. These enhancements also enabled the plant to meet or exceed municipal wastewater standards and federal regulations.

Our Challenge

Continuous Plant Operation

We had to plan our work precisely to prevent disruptions to the operations of the existing plant.
