At Pomerleau, we are committed to participating in the reconciliation process. To make our sites and business interactions more representative and inclusive, we are dedicated to raising awareness about Indigenous realities.
This year, to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, our offices across the country welcomed First Nations and Métis speakers from various backgrounds and regions to talk about their cultures and reconciliation.
The guest speakers generously shared their personal stories, knowledge, history and traditions. Employees learned about the historical and ongoing effects of colonization and what that means for Indigenous peoples today.
In the last few years, Pomerleau has deployed numerous initiatives to promote reconciliation and Indigenous prosperity within the workplace. Our Integrated Report details our commitment to making Indigenous peoples our business partners. In an industry like ours, that means sharing knowledge about our construction practices and expertise with Indigenous contractors and businesses, sub-contracting work to Indigenous companies, creating jobs, training employees, and helping Indigenous communities through construction and philanthropy.
It is our goal to support Indigenous economic development and greater autonomy. This is a life-long commitment that we intend to see through. We are doing so by nurturing authentic relationships with Indigenous peoples and collaborating with communities on common issues such as community resilience, business development, inclusive workplaces, and environmental protection.
We will continue to make spaces for conversations like those we had as part of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and strive to preserve Indigenous beliefs, cultures, traditions, and land.
