Diverse Highway 35 Work

Our team was mandated by the Quebec Ministry of Transportation to complete the following work on Highway 35 in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu:

  • Earthworks
  • Drainage
  • Building the roadway structure
  • Installing three reinforced concrete box culverts
  • Building two overpasses
  • Asphalting
  • Installing guardrails
  • Installing lighting
  • Landscaping

Our work covered a total distance of approximately 4 kms and the road work covered 3,950 linear metres. In addition, we excavated 271,663 m3 of overburden.

We used more than 2,000 m3 of concrete, 493,353 metric tonnes of structures, 191,001 m3 of embankment and 230,527 kg of concrete rebar.

Despite the size and complexity of the work, it was a complete success.

Our Challenges

Poor Soil

We installed 498 piles under the overpasses and the footings of the culverts to permit work, despite the poor soil conditions.

Complex Transportation

Two 4 m x 3 m culverts and one 10 m x 4 m arched culvert were prefabricated in sections to facilitate their transportation.
