Supportive housing Construction

Promptly and efficiently, we built the first Centre of Excellence for Integrated Senior Services, an eight-storey, 10,455 m2 supportive housing apartment.

The structure of this 132-unit building consists of these architectural elements:

  • Concrete foundation on piers
  • Concrete shear wall for the elevator and stairwell
  • Hollow core concrete slab
  • Load-bearing concrete block walls

We used an Exterior Insulation Finishing System (EIFS) with a steel stud back wall to build the exterior walls and drywall partitions to make the interior walls.

Subsequent phases of the project led to these upgrades:

  • A link between the apartment building and long-term care facility
  • Site services
  • Parking lots
  • Landscaping

We needed to effectively coordinate and communicate with the contractors, since the building's occupancy directly influenced the use of the parking lot and the scope of the long-term care facility upgrades.

Our Challenge

Many Contractors and a Tight Schedule

We meticulously coordinated many contractors from different trades to ensure that the work was done efficiently according to a tight schedule.
