Our team completed this project five months ahead of schedule, building a 1,368 MW run-of-river hydroelectric power plant in James Bay based on strict environmental criteria.
The geometry for the construction was particularly intricate, requiring multiple sets of formwork in light of the mandate’s short time frame. Most of the formwork, which covered 290,000 m² in total, could be prefabricated at a lower cost on site.
During this project, we cast in place 401,000 m³ of concrete, used 19,000 tonnes of rebar, installed four rail-mounted tower cranes and poured a record-breaking 10,500 m³ of concrete in a single day.
By deploying equipment and personnel 20 to 24 hours a day, six or seven days a week, we completed the project in 48 months, despite a particularly tight schedule.
We followed the strict compliance requirements of a particularly stringent environmental regulation.
