For more than 15 years, Pomerleau’s presence in British Columbia has continued to grow, in step with the evolving needs of local communities. Beginning with maller-scale projects and progressing to increasingly significant worksites, the company has gradually established itself as a trusted partner for municipalities, public organizations and private-sector partners across Western Canada.
Year after year, Pomerleau has actively contributed to the development of British Columbia through projects with a meaningful and lasting impact. As the company celebrates its 60th anniversary, here is a look back at some key milestones.
As early as 2009, Pomerleau contributed to one of the most transformative public transit projects in the Greater Vancouver area by taking part in the construction of several key Canada Line stations, including Langara–49th Avenue, King Edward, Oakridge–41st Avenue and Bridgeport.
These stations play a central role in residents’ daily lives by connecting residential neighbourhoods, educational hubs, community spaces and commercial areas to the rapid transit network.
At Langara and King Edward, the stations facilitate travel for residents and students heading to schools, local shops and neighbourhood parks. At Oakridge, the station improves access to a major destination for shopping, recreation and cultural activities. Bridgeport, meanwhile, serves as a major regional hub, linking Vancouver, Richmond, the international airport and intercity transportation networks.
To this day, Pomerleau is proud to see how these stations, built during the company’s early years in British Columbia, continue to serve local communities.
In 2014, Pomerleau continued its growth in British Columbia by being entrusted with part of the construction of the Joint Abbotsford Mission Environmental Systems (JAMES) wastewater treatment plant, an essential facility serving the communities of Abbotsford, Mission and the surrounding region.
The project increased the plant’s treatment capacity by 61%, addressing population growth and the daily needs of thousands of residents. Carried out while the facility remained fully operational, the project required rigorous planning to ensure that this essential municipal service was never interrupted.
The year 2020 marked a major milestone in Pomerleau’s presence in British Columbia with the opening of new offices in downtown Vancouver, symbolizing the company’s continued growth in the province.
Located near the city’s economic core, this strategic location allows Pomerleau to be closer to its clients, partners and local communities, while offering its teams a modern and collaborative work environment.
This opening confirms Pomerleau’s commitment to establishing long-term roots in British Columbia and to actively supporting its current and future projects across Western Canada.
In 2025, Pomerleau further strengthened its presence in British Columbia after being selected as general contractor for the construction of the new Cloverley Elementary School in the North Vancouver neighbourhood. Delivered for the North Vancouver School District, the project aims to meet the needs of a rapidly growing community by providing a new educational facility at the heart of the neighbourhood.
This new school, designed to accommodate up to 585 students, will address the area's capacity challenges and provide children with an environment conducive to learning and school life. Drawing on its experience of building over 80 schools across Canada over the past 60 years, Pomerleau is putting its expertise to work for the families of Cloverley to support the community's demographic growth by constructing a building that will be essential to the future of the neighbourhood and will play a significant role in the daily lives of students, parents, and school staff.
The redevelopment of the Belleville Terminal marks an important milestone in Pomerleau’s presence in British Columbia, as it represents the company’s very first project in Victoria. Located in the Inner Harbour, the terminal is a critical transportation hub for residents, workers and visitors travelling through the provincial capital each day.
The work will modernize and adapt the facilities to support marine transportation operations while maintaining site accessibility. Carried out in a busy urban and port environment, the project requires close coordination to minimize impacts on mobility and surrounding activities, ensuring the continuity of a key service for the local population.
The redevelopment of the Belleville terminal supports the local economy, tourism and strengthens ties with the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations through meaningful collaboration, while remaining an essential infrastructure for mobility and trade in the region.
Today, Pomerleau is proud to contribute to major infrastructure projects that are transforming mobility and the daily lives of communities across the region. This is particularly true of the Surrey Langley SkyTrain project, one of the largest construction projects in the metropolitan area, which aims to facilitate the daily commutes of thousands of residents and better connect rapidly growing communities to key employment and service hubs.
Pomerleau is also involved, as part of the Cross Fraser Partnership consortium, in the design and preliminary construction phase of the Fraser River Tunnel project, a key element of British Columbia’s transportation strategy. This major project aims to improve connectivity between Richmond and Delta through an eight-lane immersed tunnel incorporating dedicated lanes for public transit, pedestrians, and cyclists. It will alleviate congestion, reduce travel times, and improve safety for the thousands of people who use this strategic corridor daily.
These projects demonstrate the evolution of Pomerleau's presence in British Columbia, moving from targeted projects to major construction sites with a provincial reach.
For over 15 years, Pomerleau has grown alongside British Columbia, supporting its communities through projects that address concrete, everyday needs. From early public transit stations and essential infrastructure to schools, clinics, seniors' centres, terminals, and major regional mobility projects, each achievement reflects a consistent commitment to the citizens and communities served. Today, this trajectory reflects a deep-rooted presence in Western Canada and a firm commitment to continue contributing, through transformative projects, to the vitality and development of communities in British Columbia.
