We were awarded the design-build mandate for the new Sorel-Tracy Detention Centre. This high-security facility holds up to 300 inmates in seven detention pavilions and one multi-sector pavilion (consisting of 297 detention units in total).
For this mandate, we were responsible for the detention facility’s design, development, construction, equipment supply and commissioning.
The facility’s control stations are connected to a central station that controls critical systems such as the telecommunication, cable, audiovisual, security and access systems.
Despite many challenges, we met the client’s tight schedule and strict requirements.
We met many standards, when it came to using specific building materials, incorporating bulletproof windows, adding anti-suicide devices and much more.
We fast-tracked the project to meet the client’s ultra-tight deadlines.
We had to compact wet soil before building the foundation for the facility.
We organized and sequenced every construction activity to prevent disruptions to the archaeological work occurring on-site at the same time.
We limited the impact of the work on nearby residential neighbourhoods by adapting our construction methods, work schedules and more.
