End-to-End Complex Construction

The City of Marystown awarded us the project to build the 3,113 m2 YMCA Recreation Complex.

Our work included the following elements:

  • Six-lane, 25-metre competition pool.
  • Shallow-water leisure pool with water slide.
  • Sauna.
  • 370 m2 fitness centre.
  • Indoor walking track.
  • Multi-purpose gymnasium.
  • Family locker room.
  • Individual locker room.

The building's foundation and pool structure are made of concrete. The second floor and roof are supported by a steel frame.

The exterior cladding is made of corrugated metal and natural wood composite panels. The exterior walls of the pools are aluminum curtain walls and wood panels, providing the pool area with a large amount of light.

The building is surrounded by walking paths and seating areas that blend perfectly with the natural landscape.

Harvested Natural Energy

Heat pumps on the roof and 18 geothermal wells 150 m below the parking lot harvest natural heat to heat the building.

Our Challenge

Remote Construction Site

Since the construction site was located three hours from our office in Saint John's, Newfoundland, we planned every aspect of the project meticulously to stay within budget and deliver the highest quality.
