Heavy Equipment Centre of Excellence – Phase 1

Educational Building Construction

Stephenville, Newfoundland is home to the College of the North Atlantic – Heavy Equipment Operators. We were contracted by the Department of Transportation and Public Works to build the new Heavy Equipment Centre of Excellence.

For Phase 1 alone, the project involved an investment of $2.5 million for the following work:

• A mass cut and fill of a parcel of land.
• Installing concrete foundations.
• Building the steel structure for the future development.

The purpose of the new building is educational, so we built classrooms and a large technical garage bay. The design was handled by Stantec.

Remote Construction Site

The project was located nearly two hours from the nearest concrete plant, leaving little room for error in batching concrete on site. We used the correct amount of concrete, so construction was not affected by the long delivery time.
