In 2021, Pierre Lafond was appointed the new head of the APEX group (Centre of Expertise in Alternative Projects) and joined the Executive Committee as Senior Vice-President – Pre-Construction, APEX.

Since joining Pomerleau in 2016, Pierre has guided the vision of the APEX Civil and Infrastructure Pre-Construction team. His efforts to align our consultation ambitions regarding large, complex projects have borne fruit, notably through the awarding of three major projects – the Champlain Bridge deconstruction, the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) and the refurbishment of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel – as well as positioning the company strategically on numerous future projects.

Prior to joining Pomerleau, Pierre worked with Aecon for close to 20 years, where he last held the position as Vice-President Estimating/Development, for its civil division. Over the span of his 30-year career, he has worked on major infrastructure projects in the transportation, hydroelectricity, mining, marine and petroleum industries and completed key underground, tunnel and bridge works. Several of these projects were carried out in alternative modes.

Pierre first studied Forest Engineering at Université Laval in Quebec City, before earning his Bachelor of Civil Engineering at the Polytechnique in Montreal in 1987. He has been a member of the Quebec Order of Engineers since 1990.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Infrastructure Council, a group of businesses and organizations working to carry out large-scale projects in Quebec, Canada and internationally.
