Mobilité Bleu Horizon consortium undertakes Montreal’s metro Blue Line extension project

Blue line extension

Mobilité Bleu Horizon, a consortium formed jointly and equally by Pomerleau, EBC and Spie batignolles, has signed an agreement to carry out work under the main contract of the extension of Montreal’s metro's Blue Line to date.

The extension involves the construction of a tunnel and the addition of five new stations spanning over nearly 6 kilometres, from Saint-Michel station to the Anjou borough. This extension will provide more than 20,000 peak-period users with fast, reliable service and, above all, improved access to the public transit network.

Already mobilized, Mobilité Bleu Horizon team will begin the project before the end of 2024 working in close collaboration with the Projet Ligne Bleue office. This particular project involves building the tunnel and excavating extension's other structures. The consortium will work in collaboration with the Projet Ligne Bleue office to minimize impacts on citizens and the business community throughout the duration of the project.

We are delighted to embark on this sustainable mobility project, which is part of the socio-economic development of Montreal's east end. Our experience on major projects such as the REM, SkyTrain stations on the Surrey Langley line in British Columbia and the refurbishment of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine tunnel testifies to our ability to undertake increasingly complex projects nationwide.
EBC is proud to bring its expertise in the excavation of underground structures to bear on this major project. By working on major public transport projects such as the extension of the Montreal metro, the construction of the REM, including the underground station at the Montreal airport, and complex and risky excavation work such as the major Canadian hydroelectric dam sites, EBC has developed specialized techniques that will be used today.
We are very proud to contribute to the extension of Montreal's Blue Line, thanks to our expertise in managing major transportation infrastructure projects in Europe, such as the Grand Paris project, in which Spie batignolles was a major player, the Lyon Turin Ferroviaire project and, more recently, the red line of the Lisbon metro.
