Opening of the Albert Jackson Processing Centre

Canada Post Facility

It was with great pleasure that we attended Canada Post’s grand opening for the Albert Jackson Processing Centre, a sustainable project that we are grateful to have been a part of.

The Albert Jackson processing centre, is named after the person who is believed to be the first Black mail carrier in Canada. It is a zero-carbon building and the largest industrial project in Canada with the Zero Carbon Building Standard designation. The 585,000 square foot facility will be able to process more than one million packages per day at full capacity.

After remarks from a few speakers, including Canada Post’s President and CEO Doug Ettinger and Albert Jackson’s family members, attendees were given guided tours of the facility. They had a chance to see thoughtful employee inclusions such as the multi-faith room and innovative design features like the suspended automated sortation equipment.

The Albert Jackson Processing Centre builds upon Pomerleau’s contributions in Scarborough, Ontario.

From the Zero-Carbon Albert Jackson Processing Centre to the recently completed Harmony Commons – the Passive House student residence building we constructed for the University of Toronto Scarborough – Pomerleau is proud to be a partner in the vibrant Scarborough region, delivering sustainable infrastructure projects that have a positive impact for the local ecosystem and community.
