An innovative collaboration between the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) and the Constructeurs Terminal de Contrecoeur Grand Projet (CTCGP) consortium, made up of Pomerleau and Aecon, has been confirmed for the design of the in-water works for the Port of Montreal's Contrecœur expansion project. This part of the project includes, among other things, the design of marine infrastructures such as quays, breakwaters, dredging and embankments. The group was selected for this mandate because of its expertise in complex projects.
For this project, the collaborative design-build approach is favored, promoting constant communication between the group and APM, as well as optimization of processes and results. This approach is increasingly used for major infrastructure projects, enabling greater predictability of costs and deadlines.
Philippe Adam, President and CEO of Pomerleau, is delighted with this partnership with the APM to design the in-water works for the expansion project. He emphasizes that this project represents a unique opportunity to contribute to the economic and sustainable development of Quebec and Canada.
We are proud to be part of the Port of Montreal's Contrecœur expansion project, which will enable APM to realize its innovative vision for the country's shipping industry. We applaud the use of the collaborative design-build model, which prioritizes transparency and teamwork between prime contractor and designer, ensuring better planning and risk management. Together, with our partner Aecon and the APM team, we will leverage our know-how and experience in the design and construction of world-class port infrastructures.
