Repositionnement Place Ville marie

Construction Management Project

Our mandate was to provide construction management services for the repositioning of Place Ville Marie.

The main objective of this large-scale project, in light of its many complex components, was to ensure that the site could offer every necessary service, providing a better experience to tenants and visitors.

Our work included the following elements:

  • Transforming the food court completely to provide a new dining experience (the Cathcart) to visitors.
  • Creating a large glass-covered hall to replace the four skylights in the Esplanade and provide a distinctive entrance directly to the food court and the city's underground network.
  • Modifying the Esplanade completely (including the replacement of the waterproof membrane).
  • Relocating and replacing the Cathcart Street parking entrance (with a grand staircase connecting the Esplanade to the central axis of McGill College Avenue).
  • Replacing building facades.

Our Challenges

High-Traffic Location

We planned the construction phase efficiently to perform large-scale work in a location that welcomes approximately 365,000 people per week.

Occupied Offices

Since the offices were occupied during construction, we organized weekly meetings with the occupants to keep them informed of the work and its impact.

Rain and Snow Protection

When we rebuilt the waterproofing system, we took effective steps to fully protect the basement from rain and snow infiltration.

The Site in Figures

12,000

m2 of restored terrace space.

365,000

visitors per day, on average, during the project.
