Pierre Pomerleau

Pierre Pomerleau is a leading figure in Canada’s construction industry. He joined Pomerleau in 1989 and quickly left his mark on the organization before succeeding his father, Hervé Pomerleau, as President in 1997. For more than 25 years, he successfully led the family business, transforming it from a regional firm into a national powerhouse recognized for its boldness, innovation, and sustainable vision.

Under his leadership, annual revenues grew from $100 million to more than $5 billion by 2023. He turned Pomerleau into one of the largest construction companies in the country, managing over 200 projects annually across Canada, from commercial, residential, and industrial buildings to major infrastructure and renewable energy projects.

A visionary leader, he introduced exemplary governance practices, established an independent board of directors, and spearheaded the adoption of advanced virtual design and construction technologies. These initiatives have earned Pomerleau recognition as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies by Deloitte since 2004, and as one of the country’s Top 100 Employers since 2020.

In August 2023, Pierre stepped down as CEO, passing the leadership to Philippe Adam, and now serves as Executive Chairman of the Board. In this role, he continues to mentor the company’s leaders while supporting the growth of the group, which includes ITC, Borea Construction, and Beaubois, in residential, renewable energy, and architectural millwork.

Pierre holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Polytechnique Montréal (Poly ’87) and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business (UWO, 1989). He is also deeply engaged in the business community as a member of YPO and the Business Council of Canada, and as a director of National Bank of Canada and Richelieu Hardware.

A father of three, Pierre is distinguished by his strong philanthropic commitment. Most recently, he chaired the board of the CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation, where he played a leading role in major fundraising campaigns for healthcare and other causes in Quebec. Convinced of the importance of giving back, he personally supports numerous initiatives, consolidating his legacy as a visionary entrepreneur and community builder.
