Contributing to Easing the Housing Crisis in Ottawa, Pomerleau breaks ground as General Contractor on New Affordable Housing Development

Pomerleau has officially commenced construction as the General Contractor for Ottawa Community Housing’ s Gladstone Village, Phase 1. Designed by Diamond Schmitt and KWC Architects, Phase 1 will deliver 336 new affordable homes to Ottawa, Ontario. These homes will be conveniently located near the light rail station, known as “Corso Italia”, ensuring easy access to transit. This groundbreaking underscores OCH’s dedication to creating affordable and community-focused housing.

Pomerleau is proud of the relationship that we have with Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) to deliver affordable homes and new standards for modern living.  Having recently completed 715 Mikinàk Road, we are honored to be entrusted once again as the construction partner for the first phase of Gladstone Village, an exceptional planned community addressing Ottawa’s housing needs and the City’s commitment to the highest levels of sustainability. We look forward to working with OCH, Diamond Schmitt Architects and KWC Architects to deliver this important and meaningful project for the community.

Experts in Sustainable Construction

Pomerleau is renowned for delivering sustainable projects across the country. Phase 1 will feature a mix of apartment sizes ranging from studio to four-bedroom units.  The buildings will include high-efficiency heating, cooling, and wastewater heat recovery systems and will be built to passive house standards.

Gladstone Village, Phase 1 is part of Ottawa Community Housing’s long-range plans for a transformative development which will ultimately see the creation of up to 1,100 new homes, setting new standards for sustainability and community. Pomerleau is both humbled and thrilled to play a part in executing this vision.
