Pomerleau is starting a 6-month trial period on January 30 to assess the field performance of Spot, a robot that will move around the site to take photos at predefined locations with a camera connected to HoloBuilder, a documentation platform. which allows comparisons to be made with virtual design and construction software. The photos will be used to assess the progress of the site and to compare the reality with the budgets and the planned deadlines.
Continually on the lookout for innovative technologies to optimize our processes and the work of our site teams, Pomerleau is proud to be the first company in the world to include the Spot robot as a full member of its site team.
Designed and built by Boston Dynamics, Spot has more than one trick up its sleeve! Indeed, it is equipped with a tracking system that allows it to move around completely independently on construction sites, to identify and bypass obstacles in its path. He can also move in all directions, get up in the event of a fall, and avoid collisions with his fellow humans. He is the ideal candidate to explore confined spaces or places presenting a danger to workers, thereby optimizing their safety.
It is now evident that the construction industry must turn to technology to help unleash human potential. Pomerleau's approach is precisely to try out different technologies, such as the Spot robot, in addition to its staff, to take advantage of the skills and expertise of workers by assigning them to more crucial work.
