Pomerleau hard hats will find a second life!

As part of the launch of our new brand image, we have proceeded to replace the hard hats of the workers on our construction sites. To promote sustainable practices, and to minimize the environmental impact of the launch, we have implemented a recycling program for hard hats and coroplast signage. A collaborative effort between the Communications, Environment and Logistics team led to the creation of a partnership with Re-Plast, a Quebec company that designs, manufactures, and brings to market, among other things, street furniture and patio floors made from 100% recycled plastics.

The hard hats will be sent to Re-Plast to be recycled and reintroduced into new products. The polystyrene foam found inside some hats models will be recycled by SOPREMA at its plant in Sherbrooke and used to produce XPS insulation panels. Who knows, one of the components of our hard hats may one day end up on one of our sites!

The posters in coroplast will also be sent to Re-Plast where they will be combined with plastics from local curbside recycling circuits. These materials will then be shredded, densified and extruded to create 100% recycled planks for the manufacture of new sustainable products.

One step closer to shaping a durable future!
