Pomerleau Awarded Early Works Contract for WAHA Redevelopment

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Site Preparation Early Works contract for the Weeneebayko Area Health Authority’s (WAHA) Redevelopment project. The Early Works phase of the project is expected to begin this month and wrap up in October 2024.

The Early Works phase is dedicated to completing tasks associated with preparing the site pad to support the construction of the new hospital campus in Moosonee.

Early Works activities include:

  1. Removal of topsoil and transportation to an appropriate facility.
  2. Geotechnical design of the site pads.
  3. Building of the site pads.
  4. Erection of permanent construction fencing, gates, and signage.
Pomerleau is excited to commence the site preparation early works for the WAHA Redevelopment project. This redevelopment will bring much improved and needed healthcare facilities for WAHA and all the communities it serves along the James Bay and Hudson Bay coasts. We are honoured to be a part of this project.
There are several phases involved, before shovels are even in the ground, on complex projects like the redevelopment of our healthcare facilities in Moosonee and Moose Factory. This marks the start of another key phase, and it’s very exciting for the First Nations communities, and those providing healthcare in our region because we are laying the foundation for future innovation and success.
