Plant Construction

We were awarded the contract to build the Soprema production plant, a 7,432 m2 facility in Woodstock, Ontario. For this mandate, we constructed the following components:

  • A large outdoor storage area.
  • A one-storey office space.
  • A mezzanine.
  • A production quality assurance laboratory.

We also coordinated the delivery of the production equipment and ensured that it was installed properly.

 

Building a Sustainable Vision in Woodstock

In May 2020, we completed the construction of this new waterproofing product manufacturing plant in Woodstock, designed to meet the stringent requirements of LEED v4 certification. As one of the few industrial buildings in Canada to reach this level of recognition, the project reflects an exceptional commitment to environmental performance and occupant well-being.

 

A Collaboration Driven by Ambition

From the very beginning, Pomerleau worked hand in hand with SOPREMA and our design partner Lemay to align our visions and meet the demanding requirements of LEED v4. This close collaboration allowed us to anticipate challenges, integrate sustainable strategies early, and ensure that every decision supported the project’s environmental goals. Pomerleau is proud to have played a key role alongside SOPREMA and Lemay in bringing this innovative and sustainable industrial facility to life.

 

Celebrating International Recognition : Green Solutions Awards

We are extremely proud that the SOPREMA plant in Woodstock has earned the International Smart Building Award at the Green Solutions Awards, presented by Construction21 during COP30 in Belém, Brazil. This recognition celebrates the ambition behind the project and the remarkable collective effort that made it possible.

Showcasing Industrial and Sustainable Expertise

For Pomerleau, this achievement highlights our deep expertise in industrial construction and our ability to deliver high-quality facilities while integrating advanced sustainable practices. Through careful planning and strong alignment between partners, we met demanding certification targets while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.This success directly reflects the principles outlined in the Growing and Greening Canadian Construction report, demonstrating that when a project is designed thoughtfully and fuelled by a shared vision, it can meaningfully reduce emissions and set new standards for sustainable construction. Pomerleau is grateful for SOPREMA’s trust and proud to have collaborated with Lemay, Elema, Blondin Fortin, and Équipe Laurence to achieve this international distinction.
