Corporate Donation and Sponsorship Policy

Context: This policy provides a framework for managing donations, sponsorships and community involvement at Pomerleau Inc. Every effort will be made to ensure that the requirements of this policy are met, that community involvement efforts across Pomerleau are aligned in all the regions in which the company is active and that the company acts fairly with regards to the organizations, the communities and its employees.

Scope: This policy applies to all of Pomerleau Inc. including its divisions Giffels and Westpro but excludes its subsidiaries Borea and Beaubois.

Eligibility criteria for donations:

  • For a donation application to be considered by Pomerleau, the organization requesting assistance must:
  • Have official status and a registration number as a not-for-profit organization
  • Submit a charitable donation receipt for the full amount of the donation
  • Represent a group of individuals (donations are not provided to individuals)
  • Propose a project that meets Pomerleau’s philanthropic objectives and falls under one of its target sectors
  • Have projects, programs or activities that take place in Canadian communities where Pomerleau has a presence or is active
  • Demonstrate sound management and reasonable administrative expenses (less than 30% of its budget is directed at administrative or fundraising expenses)

Eligibility criteria for sponsorships:

Organizations sponsored by Pomerleau must:

Represent a group of individuals (sponsorships are not provided to individuals)

  • Provide Pomerleau with significant visibility according to a partnership plan whose value is at least the equivalent to the company’s contribution
  • Enable Pomerleau to promote its name and activities
  • Be part of an integrated communications initiative
  • Enable Pomerleau to benefit from and leverage its association with the organization
  • Complete a detailed online application form at least three (3) months prior to the activity in question

In general, Pomerleau makes no more than one contribution to an activity or organization per 12-month period, whether the request is a donation or sponsorship

Target Sectors:

Pomerleau gives priority to the following sectors:

  • Health: Pomerleau supports institutions, university hospitals and organizations that advance research and the quality of care and offer services adapted to people coping with mental or physical illness or disease
  • Education: Pomerleau invests in learning, training, research and overall post-secondary education and Canadian educational institutions
  • Construction industry: Pomerleau promotes organizations, projects and events that support the Canadian construction industry

Exclusions:

Donations and sponsorships will not be considered for the following:

  • Religious and political organizations;
  • Organizations supported by Centraide or United Way
  • Organizations that have already received financial assistance from Pomerleau during the past 12 months
  • Individual people or projects benefitting an individual
  • Expenses related to travel events, such as tours, expeditions or trips performed by groups or individuals, even if made in the context of fundraising
  • Any organizations whose activities benefit communities or whose causes are based outside of Canada
